How to Choose an Aesthetics Course in North London
Search for aesthetics courses in North London and you will find everything from one-day certificates to two-year diploma routes, often described in almost the same words. The right choice depends on what you want to offer, what you already hold and how much time you can give it. This is how we would choose if we were starting today.
Start with what you want to offer
Every good decision starts here, because each goal points to a different kind of course.
- Anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. Short Botox and dermal filler CPD courses teach one treatment at a time. For a regulated qualification, the goal is the Level 7 Aesthetic Practice course.
- Advanced skin treatments. Microneedling and chemical peels sit in the Level 5 Diploma, while skin boosters, mesotherapy and fat reduction are optional units in the Level 6 Diploma.
- Beauty treatments. Lashes, brows, nails, facials and microblading are taught as ABT-accredited courses. See every beauty course we run.
- Not sure yet. Our guide for beginners explains the first steps, and Level 3 has no formal entry requirements.
Regulated, accredited or CPD: know what you are buying
A regulated qualification, such as a ProQual diploma, has a qualification number, a level on the national framework and external quality assurance. CPD and ABT-accredited courses can be excellent practical training and are designed to support insurance for a specific treatment, but they are not on Ofqual’s register.
Neither is wrong. They do different jobs, and you should know which one you are paying for. Our guide shows how to check whether a course is regulated in a few minutes.
Questions to ask any North London academy
- Who will teach me, and what are their qualifications?
- How many treatments will I do on live models, and how are they supervised?
- How many students are in each practical group?
- How are complications taught, and what happens if one occurs during training?
- For anti-wrinkle courses, how does prescribing work during and after the course?
- What first aid do I need, and can I take it with you?
- Which insurers accept the certificate for the treatments I want to offer?
- Can I spread the cost, and what happens if I need to move my practical day?
A good academy will answer all of these clearly. If the answers are vague, keep looking.

Plan your practical days
Most aesthetics training mixes theory you study in your own time with practical days at the academy. Before you book, check how you will get there, how long the practical days run and whether you can attend the dates on offer. If you work shifts or have childcare to arrange, ask for dates early. Our course dates page explains how booking works for each course.
Changes to keep in mind for 2026 and 2027
- ProQual has published a new Level 7 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice and Injectable Procedures that starts on 1 January 2027, with higher entry requirements. Read what changes for Level 7.
- On 21 October 2026 the government opened a consultation, running until 13 January 2027, on restricting some higher-risk procedures to healthcare professionals. Botulinum toxin and dissolvable facial fillers are not on that list. See our guide to the consultation.
- Giving botulinum toxin or dermal filler for cosmetic reasons to anyone under 18 is already an offence in England.
A simple shortlist checklist

Frequently asked questions
What is the best aesthetics course for a beginner in North London?
It depends on what you want to offer. If you have no experience, a Level 3 course (no formal entry requirements) or a single-treatment CPD or ABT course is a sensible start. If injectables are your goal, plan a route up the ProQual pathway towards Level 7.
Can I do Botox training in London without a medical background?
Yes. Non-medics can take CPD botulinum toxin courses and can work up to the ProQual Level 7 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice. Botulinum toxin is a prescription-only medicine, so non-prescribers work with a prescriber.
How do I know if an aesthetics academy is legitimate?
Ask for the awarding body and qualification number of any diploma and check it on the Ofqual register. Then ask about live models, complications training, first aid and how prescribing works on injectables courses.
