Why we spend so long on complications

Filler is not permanent, and most results are lovely. But the face has blood vessels in places that do not forgive guesswork, and vascular complications are the reason careful practitioners keep learning. Every filler course here includes complication management, and the foundation course covers how to dissolve filler with hyaluronidase.

Areas like the tear trough and the nose are taught as separate masterclasses for a reason. They need detailed anatomy, risk assessment and patient selection, and we would rather you did them once you are confident with the basics.

Do I need a prescriber for fillers?

Not for the filler itself, as temporary dermal fillers are not prescription-only medicines. Hyaluronidase is, though, so you need a route to a prescriber if a complication means filler has to be dissolved.

Questions

Dermal filler course FAQs

Which dermal filler course should I start with?
Foundation Dermal Fillers (£599). It covers hyaluronic acid science, lips, nasolabial folds and marionette lines, complication management and dissolving filler with hyaluronidase. The Advanced cannula course and masterclasses come after.
Is dermal filler a prescription-only medicine?
No. Temporary dermal fillers are not prescription-only medicines. Hyaluronidase, used to dissolve filler, is prescription-only, which is one reason a working relationship with a prescriber matters.
Can I give fillers to under-18s?
No. The Botulinum Toxin and Cosmetic Fillers (Children) Act 2021 makes it an offence in England to give dermal filler for cosmetic purposes to anyone under 18.
What about body fillers?
The government’s October 2026 consultation proposes treating filler injected anywhere other than the face, including the so-called liquid BBL, as cosmetic surgery that only doctors could perform. Dissolvable (resorbable) facial fillers are not on the proposed list.
Is a CPD filler course a regulated qualification?
No. It gives you a CPD-accredited certificate. The Ofqual-regulated route into dermal fillers is the ProQual Level 7 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice, which requires at least six needle and four cannula filler treatments to be observed.
Are models and products provided?
Yes. You practise under supervision on live models, and products are included on the day.
