Is Level 6 the right next step?
Level 6 is for people who already work with skin and want to move into more advanced, higher-value treatments. You might be a Level 4 graduate who has been doing peels and microneedling for a while, or a therapist with years of treatments behind you who never collected the paperwork.
It is also the usual bridge to Level 7. ProQual’s Level 7 entry requirements ask for a Level 5 or 6 Diploma plus a Level 6 qualification covering anatomy and professional practice, and this diploma includes both of those units.
I have five years’ experience but no Level 4. Can I join?
Possibly. ProQual accepts at least five years of verifiable beauty-industry experience in the Level 4 treatments as an alternative to a Level 4 qualification, plus valid first aid. You will need evidence such as certificates, a CV, a manager statement and insurance documents, and a trade test before you enrol.

How Level 6 is assessed
Like every ProQual diploma, Level 6 is assessed through a portfolio rather than one exam.
- Knowledge units are evidenced through written work and professional discussion.
- Practical outcomes need photos or video, an assessor’s observation report and your reflection.
- Each practical criterion is observed at least six times. For microneedling, three must be on the face and three on the body.
- Assessed treatments are carried out on live models aged 18 or over. We provide models for supervised practice at the academy.
Do I need a prescriber for skin boosters?
Some skin booster and mesotherapy products are prescription-only medicines and some are not. We explain which is which for the products used on your course, so you know what you can offer and how.
The new Level 6 from January 2027
ProQual has published the Level 6 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice and Injectable Procedures (610/7962/5), which starts on 1 January 2027. It is bigger (630 hours TQT, 490 guided) and asks for a regulated Level 5 diploma in aesthetic practice, or three years’ proven experience as an aesthetic practitioner, or full registration as a healthcare professional, plus first aid and evidence of English (IELTS 6.0 overall is ProQual’s example). Non-prescribers’ treatments must be supported by a registered prescriber and supervised by an assessor who holds Level 7.
ProQual’s new document does not say whether the current 610/4498/2 diploma closes. If you are ready now, talk to us about registration timing.
