CPD Botox course or Level 7?
It is a fair question, so here is the straight answer. A CPD anti-wrinkle course is focused, practical training in specific treatment areas, with a CPD-accredited certificate at the end. It is quick and useful, especially if you already hold a medical or aesthetics background.
The ProQual Level 7 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice is an Ofqual-regulated qualification. It takes far longer, asks for prior qualifications, and requires every practical competence to be observed at least ten times. It is the stronger credential while England builds its licensing scheme for cosmetic procedures.
Which should I choose?
If you need a regulated qualification, choose Level 7. If you are already qualified and want to add or refresh specific areas, a CPD course is the faster option. Some practitioners do both, starting with one and adding the other later.
What does the law say about Botox right now?
Botulinum toxin is a prescription-only medicine, and it is illegal to give it for cosmetic reasons to anyone under 18 in England. No law currently names a qualification you must hold to inject it.
On 21 October 2026 the government opened a consultation on restricting some high-risk procedures to healthcare professionals. Botulinum toxin is not on that proposed list, but a wider licensing scheme is still being developed.
